Accelerating Efficiency: How DREAMDEV Transformed Data Management for Secto Services
Secto Services, a project management and engineering firm specialising in telecoms and critical infrastructure, faced significant operational challenges as it expanded across Ireland, the UK. The company’s reliance on complex GIS mapping systems and diverse large datasets was crucial for managing projects across Fixed Line and Wireless Telecoms. However, as their operations grew, consolidating and analysing data across multiple platforms became increasingly difficult and time-consuming.
With data collated across various systems, Secto struggled to create a unified, real-time view of project information. A large amount of the team’s time was spent manually creating reports, validating data and correcting errors, which detracted from productivity and delayed critical decision-making. Recognising the need for a comprehensive, modern, cloud-based data architecture, Secto sought a technology partner that could streamline their processes, reduce manual work, and enhance real-time visibility across projects.
Solution
After considering several vendors, Secto selected DREAMDEV Technologies based on their proven track record in the telecommunications sector. Secto had observed DREAMDEV’s transformative impact on similar infrastructure firms, particularly in terms of efficiency gains and data integration.
DREAMDEV quickly implemented a cloud-based data capture system, to pull data from their many disparate data sources and stored them in a Data Lake in Azure. Following this, they leveraged their proprietary ArcPilot tool to rapidly design and deploy a working suite of highly customised data processing pipelines.
The solution included:
State-of-the-Art Data Platform: DREAMDEV built a centralised data platform in Azure, allowing for seamless data integration and real-time access.
Automated Data Pipelines: ArcPilot's blueprint system automates the creation of data pipelines using best-in-class DataOps practices, eliminating manual coding overhead and greatly simplifying the process of building dashboards.
Continuous Data Streaming: The cloud-based system, enabled continuous streaming of data to a central data lake, providing live access to accurate operational data, without the need for any manual processing.
Best-Practice DevOps: DREAMDEV established best-practice DataOps processes, automating code deployment and minimising maintenance.
With the new platform, ArcPilot enables the team at Secto to produce end-to-end data pipelines by simply describing the requirements for the data set they would like to create.
ArcPilot now handles dataset creation, allowing Secto to access accurate data in real time, drastically reducing the manual overhead in creating operational reports. The solution was implemented in just a few weeks, achieving a rapid MVP that enabled immediate productivity gains.
Impact
The DREAMDEV solution transformed Secto’s data operations and streamlined project management, delivering measurable improvements across the board:
Automated Efficiency
ArcPilot now automates the ingestion of over 99% of new data sources.
Eliminated errors from manual data processing, improving data reliability.
Real-Time Insights
• Real-Time single source of truth data is now available in a centralised data lake enabling cross-organisational visibility.• Operations, commercial, and finance teams now have real-time access to performance metrics and can generate self-service reports using Power BI.
• Enhanced decision-making with instant data access and comprehensive project tracking.
